The office of Vice President for Academic Affairs was created in 1973 as part of a major reorganization of the University of Utah central administration. The office assumed the duties of three former positions: Provost, Vice President for Student Affairs, and Academic Vice President. This collection contains financial audits and budgets, correspondence, memoranda, meeting minutes, reports, and other materials primarily from the files of Vice Presidents for Academic Affairs Pete Gardner, Cedric Davern, and Irwin Altman.
